The Quality Assurance Committee is composed of at least two (2) members of Council, at least one (1) public member of Council, and at least two (2) members of the profession who are not members of Council. Below is a listing of the appointed Quality Assurance Committee members for 2014/2015.

The Quality Assurance Committee is responsible for ensuring that there is a mechanism in place to monitor and maintain the competency of all practising denturists and to develop standards and guidelines for the provision of denture services in Ontario.


The Quality Assurance Committee is a statutory committee under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991


The Quality Assurance Committee oversees the Quality Assurance Program consisting of the following components:

Standards of Practice
Peer & Practice Assessments 
Remediation of Behaviour and remarks of a Sexual Nature


As required by the Denturism Act, 1991- General Part III Quality Assurance Regulation - General O. Reg. 206/94 amended to O. Reg. 188/89 every member of the College of Denturists of Ontario shall comply with the requirements of the Quality Assurance Program. Failure to comply is professional misconduct.

Each year the College selects at random the names of members required to undergo a practice assessment. Once a member has been selected for and completed a practice assessment, his/her name is removed from the selection process for five years immediately following the year of selection.

Selection of names is conducted on the basis of 5% of the professional population of each of the eight electoral districts of the College of Ontario.

Standard of Practice: Record Keeping

At the 83rd Council meeting, Council moved to adopt the document CDO Standard of Practice: Record Keeping as the new Standard for the profession as of January 1, 2017 and to retire the policy Patient Record Keeping approved by Council on March 2, 2012.
